Who are you: Rebecca Schiller, writer and campaigner. Jared Schiller, filmmaker www.hackneydoula.co.uk / www.jaredschiller.co.uk / www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/6387899 / barrelstoremargate.com
Location: Ramsgate
Years lived in house: 3.5 years (owned – yes)
Age of Property: Victorian
Favourite colours / materials to work with: Copper, sandstone, Moroccan tiles and textiles, old floorboards, stainless steel, thick carpets and ironmongery. Colours: We really love the combination of a pale blue grey (that we colour matched from a wall colour in a gallery in Venice), Farrow and Ball’s setting plaster and Black Blue that run through the house inside and out. Mustard yellow also a big favourite.
Inspiration: My mum (Rebecca) who introduced me to interior decor, house renovation (and all that comes with it) at an early age.
Most successful thing about the house: The carpet on the stairs and landing. It’s East Kent resident Margo Selby’s design for Alternative Flooring. It’s so beautiful to look at and amazing underfoot. We’re also really pleased with exterior and having made this beautiful building turn heads again.
The thing you would change about the house: We’d like a big hallway and a bit more space on one floor. There are a lot of stairs!
Best thing about where you live: The sea, the pubs and the laid-back locals.
